Day 6 - Adelaide

Finally some of you are replying to my blog, I was wondering if anyone was reading it. I do the blog to share our experiences with you all, but it is great when you share some of your thoughts with us. Makes us feel like you are part of it with us.

Neil, my neighbour shared the fact that he grew up on the road through the Bullshit National Park. That explains your passion for cars Neil, I can imagine you hooning through those roads in the 70’s in a hotted up EH Holden? Or was it something European? Or maybe a little Cooper S. A big hi to Neil’s daughter Ally, who is currently recovering from an equine incident (ok…she fell off a horse!) Get well soon Ally, Annie will be a lot bigger when you see her next & if you take her for hugs & walks we want to make sure you are fully recovered.

Flick sent a message through, she reckons this tour should be called the fruit & nut tour…. speaking of which they are really starting to Pee me off, I went to get into the car & they were just sitting on my seat today, unopened….just sitting there! Maybe I should just throw them out & Ness won’t notice? But my luck is I throw them away & she feels like a snack….Finally.

Heard from Meredith in NZ too, good to see you are along for this tour M, you were a big part of the last tour. She sent Dan a message…..But NZ is 2 hours ahead of us, so I’m sure Dan was happy to have his phone buzzing at 4AM.

Rob sent a message saying that Annie was already a Collingwood supporter, Rob she was just being polite posing for that photo, she didn’t sleep the whole night after you exposed her to those horrible black & white colours!

Anyway today I have to work; I guess we have to pay for this trip. And my accountant reads the blog so I have to justify it to him too. I’m working for Bosch Electrical. The division I am working with does all of the antilock braking & stability control systems for major car manufacturers. It’s very secretive, some of this technology is years away from production. Being a car nut it is very interesting, I might see if I can get them to design an antilock braking system for my wheelchair!

I work tomorrow too & then on Saturday we will head West, well actually we head north before we head West, if you look at your map you will see that to get to Pt. Augusta you have to head North, someone should put a ferry across the Gulf St Vincent & then the Spencer Gulf to Pt. Lincoln. It would save a lot of travel by road. Oh and the road to Pt. Augusta is sooooo boring, compared to some of the scenery we have just seen….. the drive to Pt. Augusta is like eating cardboard!

19 degrees here, just wanted you Melbourne people to know that I have a T-shirt on & Annie is not rugged up like the Michelin Man, Ness did her work outside the van under the awning today. Hope it is not too cold in Melbourne? Hehehe…

I have not heard from any family members? I hope you are all getting the blog. You were all a big part of it last time so feel free to comment either via the blog or email direct. There is a comment button under the blog so leave your comments here…it is also fun to go back and read others comments. We love it…we waited with baited breath every day for your comments.

Hey I have another caravan park gripe! The bathroom here has one of those light switches that you push in & it slowly comes out & after about 5 minutes (4 minutes & 47 seconds actually) it pops out & the lights & fan turn off. So my question is what if you are sitting on the loo for longer than 4 minutes and 47 seconds? Or having a shower & the button pops out? Do they not think about these things?

Annie’s Blog

Hey Ava & Jack, thanks for backing me up on the Poo thing…. Oh and another thing? At what age does it change? Just before we left Dan went to the bathroom & then after he was finished Dad went in & came straight out again saying “Dan that is disgusting!” so at what age does it change from “Good girl, that is a nice Poo…… to Annie that is Gross!”

I want to say hi to my friend Ally too, we were all shocked when we heard about your accident. Especially my Dad coz he had an accident too, just not off a horse. I hope you get better and come see me when we get back, I was just getting used to you taking me for walks around our house and yours.

Unca Rob & Flick… you are silly….. how could I ever go for those Yucky black and whites, My brother would not talk to me & Dad would never take me to the footy. I think I’ll just ask Unca Juan to teach me to dance & you can all have your silly football colours!

Arama, I might listen to you & go for the all Blacks, but my Dad says ill have learn how to speak funny? Don’t know what he means by that.

Ok we have to go as Mum & Dad have promised to take me for a walk along the beach, I hope the Magic Flying Fairies are there today.

Love to you all

Hi Woodies and little Twig, great to hear the trip is going so well. Love reading each day. Makes me homesick for being on the road to the Kimberley ... this is always the time of the year we've headed up there. All seems okay around Dixons Creek, no explosions up the road so I guess Saltbush is happy with its new residents. Been frosty the past couple of mornings, and today was utterly gorgeous .. one of those perfect winter days, quiet, sunny and just doing its own thing .. at Wombat Bend, anyway. Ness or James, will you send me Dan's dates for his footy games, or get him to email me ~ Bill is very happy to go and cheer him on. Or Dan can email Bill directly on billmolyneux@austraflora.com OK ? love to you all Sue xxx

Hey Guys, drop off at Mt Remarkable NP on your way up to Port Augusta. We spent a great 4-5 days there a couple of years back.

Annie,
I understand your confusion about the poo thing. My little neice Lucy did one in the bath last week with her sister in there with her. Jen and Clint reckon they've never seen Olivia move so fast and they have some pretty amusing photos of Lucy's face - most perplexed.
Then when I was in Cairns visiting last weekend, Jen and Clint hollered that I had to come running into Lucy's room with my camera... only to take a photo of the biggest poo I have ever seen a baby do. It was full of corn and looked like an uncooked muffin. Unfortunately it had fallen out of Lucy's nappy, rolled down Jennifer's leg and bounced off her haviana, just to unceremoniously sit on the carpet waiting to be either cooked or photographed.
Much hilarity ensued, and again, Lucy looked at us all as if we were mad! Who knew adults would have so much fun discussing baby bowel movements???
Loving your blogs little lady, hope to meet you soon.
Lots of love,
Mel

Early bird catches the worm and all that - hope Dan got plenty of texts.

James - just be thankful its only the light that pops out at 4min 47secs and not the door that swings wide open ....kaaapow... Time's up!

Nathan is off to do the Auckland to Noumea sailing race tomorrow - you can follow him on www.sailnoumea.com - he is on "Starlight Express". Nathan is thinking it will take them anywhere from 5-8 days to get there and during that time all I can do is follow the little boat shaped icon on the tracker - no other way of getting in touch with him (unless it's an emergency but then again no point as it would take days for any ship to get to them)..James you will be pleased to hear that all the boats going have had full Cat 1 safety checks and all but 1 of the crew on Starlight have done the Advanced Safety at Sea Course - the wearing of harnesses and being clipped on is a non negotiable on Starlight. Unfortunately the weather for the start tomorrow is looking like it's going to be a mill pond out there...no wind!

Hi Annie,
I don’t blame you for being confused by the poo thing. Parents are a very confusing species. I am 21 now and my parents still confuse me on a daily basis (not to mention they are getting to an age now where they frequently confuse themselves too). Other people’s parents confuse me also, and during the time that I have worked as a nanny I have come across this poo issue frequently. The truth is my little friend; the poo thing is not about you. The poo thing is entirely about them, you see, your mum and dad are very proud for creating a lovely little person such as yourself, and every one of your poos is a gratification that they are doing well as parents. Food goes in one end, poo comes out the other, hence; they are doing their jobs correctly and you are a growing, healthy, happy, eating, pooping little machine, they can give themselves a pat on the back for a doing such a good job with you. I addition to this I have heard some parents go as far as to suggest that the contents of their child’s nappy is indicative of their creativity and brilliance. I hope that gives you some further insight into the poo thing. I’m sure your parents will continue to confuse you as you grow up, I look back on childhood photos and wonder what on earth my mum was thinking when she dressed me that morning. And do you know what else, when I was a kid my parents wouldn’t buy me a horse because they thought I might get hurt! What is that about!?

Please thank your mum and dad for me for their kind get-well wishes about my “equine-incident”. Just between you and me, Annie, I am annoyed they found out about it, now they’ll never let me get you a pony!
